The Backroad Ball took place June 16-18 in Penobsquis, bringing together women bikers from across Atlantic Canada and as far away as Edmonton, AB and Pittsburgh, PA. The CBC’s Julia Wright spent the weekend at the Backroad Ball and captured these photos.

"Sometimes i’ll get up three o’clock in the morning because I can’t wait to put that brush to the canvas. It’s a good addiction." Metallic's art is inspired by her lived experience and her Mi'gmaq heritage. She believes a part of herself is within every picture she paints.

Volunteers from the Bathurst Art Society were approached by Southern Comfort Villa to paint a fireplace scene on a feature wall last month, but the project inspired the artists to do much, much more. The group - Priscilla Laffoley, Kevin Harper, Rita May Gates, and Sherley Kenny Brown - visit the seniors' home twice a week, for six hour each, and work quietly on their masterpiece.
