Cinq à Six in the Summer -- August 6, 2011

barr01.jpgToday on the show are featuring some emerging indie artists from Montreal.

First, The Barr Brothers with Elizabeth Powell. The Barr Brothers, Brad and Andrew, moved to Montreal from Boston two years ago and have become a fixture on the Montreal musical scene. Elizabeth Powell heads the indie band Land of Talk.

Leif Vollebekk may sound similar to Montreal indie favourite, Patrick Watson. It figures, since his CD Inland was recorded at Montreal's Breakglass Studios earlier this year, putting him in the company of great Montreal bands like Wolf Parade, Besnard Lakes and the aforementioned Mr. Watson.

This recording features some tracks reworked from his album, as well as some new works including covers of Dylan's You're a Big Girl Now and Neil Young's early hit Barstool Blues.
