Cinq à Six in the Summer -- July 2, 2011

bill evans project.JPGOn the first edition of Cinq à Six in the Summer, we feature excerpts from two jazz concerts recorded in Montreal.

First, highlights from an evening of music written or played by legendary jazz pianist Bill Evans, on the 30th anniversary of Evans' death. The concert was recorded at L'Astral on October 22, 2010.

Frank Lozano on tenor sax leads a quartet featuring Francois Bourassa on piano, Michel Donato on bass, and Pierre Tanguay on drums.

In the second part of the show we feature a collaboration between saxaphonist and composer Joel Miller and the all-female choir Concerto della Donna, conducted by Iwan Edwards.

The concert was part of the Off Festival de jazz, recorded at Salle Le Gésù on October 21, 2010.
