NFB to cut St. Denis Location
The effects of the federal budget are starting to be felt in the form of cuts in many federal departments and institutions, including the NFB.
The budget for the National Film Board has been cut by 10 per cent over the next three years. That's a cut of 6.7 million dollars.
The NFB is closing its St. Denis office in Montreal, along with the cinema and viewing stations, effective September 1, 2012.
There's also a small reduction to the production budget.
Increasingly, the internet is being used as the main way for the Film Board to be in contact with the public.
Lily Robert speaks for the Film Board.
She came into the Cinq a six studio as the cuts were being announced. Listen to her interview with Jeanette:
