Cinq à Six in the Summer -- August 11, 2012
Today on the show we feature a double bill of Juno nominees, live at Le Petit Campus.
First up, Whitehorse.
Luke Doucet and Melissa McClelland have toured and recorded together extensively over the last six years. The newly released self-titled CD introduces Whitehorse as a band, as an entity and as a musical marriage.
In this CBC Radio 2 recording at Le Petit Campus in Montreal, Whitehorse brings in loops, keyboard samples and a video projection that clearly makes an impression on the crowd.
And in the second part of the show Frazey Ford.
After 10 years with the Be Good Tanyas, Frazy Ford has struck out alone on a solo career.
While her songs explore familiar territory, she adds a personal stamp to each lyric. In the song Hey Little Mama, Ford reflects on her own new motherhood.
Her debut CD, Obadiah, was released to much acclaim and forms the set list for this concert at Le Petit Campus in Montreal. Be Good Tanya alumnus Trish Klein provides solid support on the mandolin and vocals.
