The quest for the Montreal English accent

If you're an English-speaking Montrealer, your accent can reveal a lot about who you are and where you come from.

That's according to McGill sociolinguistic Charles Boberg. He's made a study of the distinctive ways English is spoken by people from the three largest groups in the Montreal Anglophone community: Italian, Jewish and British Montrealers.

Jeanette speaks to Charles Boberg. Along with Anne Douglas, a Montrealer of British extraction, and Italian-Montrealer Fabrizio Sciola, the creator of the St. Leonard Dictionary Website.
