Happy Halloween--Now Let's Scare Up Some Donations!

Posted By: Mark Kelley

This Halloween, as kids run around collecting their weight in sugar, many are also raising money for charities, school sports and clubs. Good for them- and why don't we let them be an example for us all this October.

Sure Canadian ghouls and goblins don't shake orange boxes anymore (that program ended in 2006), but UNICEF still has a big fundraising blitz on October 31st. Your donations will help kids around the world get access to medicine, education and a better future.

Canadians can get involved as educators, employees and party hosts. UNICEF has made individualized fundraising packages that include posters, recipes and pledge sheets.

Donate Your Winter Wear:

No need to tell you there's a nip in the November approaches we are reminded of those who cannot afford to stay warm this winter. Plenty of organizations have launched coat drives. Check out the links bellow to find out where you can donate gently used parkas, boots and sleeping bags.

Call 1 800 SAL ARMY to find out what your local Salvation Army needs. Usually this time of year they could use warm winter coats and food stuffs.

In Peterborough, Ontario: Coats for Kids 2010

In Winnipeg, Mantioba: Koats For Kids
