Political History
From 1993, the former Delta-South Richmond seat was held by the Reform/Canadian Alliance's John Cummins. His most recent win was over Liberal Jim Doswell, by a difference of 15,024 votes. Before Cummins, this riding was held by a Progressive Conservative.
In Richmond, the 2000 election saw Joe Peschilsolido of the Canadian Alliance oust two-term Liberal incumbent Raymond Chan. The margin was 1,124 votes. In 2002, Peschilsolido crossed the floor to the Liberals. This year, Chan had his revenge, beating Peschilsolido in the Liberal nomination. Before Chan first came to office, Tory Tom Siddon held this seat, serving in several cabinet positions.
