This southwestern Ontario riding takes in part of the city of Windsor along the Detroit River and Lake St. Clair.

It contains the town of Tecumseh, and that part of the City of Windsor lying east of Langlois Avenue, Tecumseh Road East and Pillette Road.

Manufacturing dominates the economy, with all Big Three automakers operating plants in the area.
The riding is heavily unionized. Average family income is $73,341 and unemployment is six per cent.

Windsor-Tecumseh was created in 2004 from 100 per cent of Windsor-St.Clair and six per cent of Essex. Windsor-Lake St. Clair was created in 1986 from Windsor-Walkerville and part of Essex-Windsor riding. The name changed to Windsor-St. Clair in 1989. Windsor-Walkerville was created in the 1966 redistribution from a major part of Essex East and part of Essex West.

In 2000, New Democrat Joe Comartin was elected as MP, defeating Liberal Rick Limoges by 401 votes. There have been several tight races between Liberal and New Democrat contenders in this riding. In a 1999 byelection Limoges beat Comartin by 91 votes. This riding was won by Liberal Shaughnessy Cohen in 1993 and 1997. Cohen collapsed at her desk in House of Commons and died of a massive brain hemorrhage on December 9, 1998.

Liberal Paul Martin Sr. held Essex East from 1935 to 1968 when he resigned. He served as Minister of National Health and Welfare from 1946-1957 and Minister of External Affairs from 1963.
Liberal Mark MacGuigan was MP from 1968-1984 in Windsor-Walkerville. He was Secretary of State for External Affairs in 1980 and Minister of Justice and Attorney General in 1982.

He has also chaired a number of committees, including the board of health, finance, budget, audit, international relations, transit and airport committees. He is a member of Windsor's police services board, the Tunnel Commission, the Waste Management Authority, the Children's Aid Society, and Handi-Transit.

He took responsibility for operating the business from 1978 onwards. He has also been a member of the Windsor Regiment reserve militia for two years.
