Authorities have found a body in the rubble of a downtown apartment building ravaged by fire, a day after police said a woman who had alerted several occupants of the building to the blaze was missing.

The body, which has yet to be identified, was found Tuesday as the building was being torn down.

Toronto police said Monday that Marie Speck, 50, woke up a number of other residents after the fire broke out early Saturday morning at 1079 Bathurst St., near Dupont Avenue, and "all occupants are safe due to Marie Speck's actions."

However, she hasn't been seen since the fire.
