Toronto woman charged for speeding at 170 km/h

A Toronto woman is facing several charges after allegedly driving at speeds up to 170 km/h while intoxicated, crashing into a guardrail and trying to flee police on a TTC bus.
The woman was driving northbound at 139 km/h on the Don Valley Parkway south of Lawrence Avenue at 2:40 a.m. Friday, Toronto police said.
When police cruisers tried to catch up with the Toyota RAV4 sports utility vehicle, the driver failed to stop, instead exiting at an off-ramp. The car did a U-turn and entered the highway again, travelling northbound at speeds of up to 170 km/h, police said.
The vehicle exited at the Highway 401 on-ramp before the driver lost control and plowed into a guardrail, police said.
The driver got out of the car and ran across a number of highway lanes, leaving three occupants inside the vehicle. There were no reports of serious injuries.
Police said they found the driver aboard a TTC bus on Victoria Park Avenue, near York Mills Road, shortly afterwards and arrested her.
Connie Nydam, 18, faces 10 charges, including impaired driving, assault with intent to resist arrest and three counts of violating probation.
