Brawl at Toronto school sends 3 teens to hospital

About 30 youths attacked three teens at an elementary school in northeast Toronto Thursday in a brawl that sent the victims to hospital with head injuries and broken teeth.
Toronto police said the fight occurred in the schoolyard of Cornell Junior Public School near Markham Road and Lawrence Avenue East. It's believed those involved were local high school students.
Police said the victims were hit with pipes, bats and broken bottles at about 3:30 p.m. ET.
"It was right at the time that school was let out," Const. Wendy Drummond said Friday.
"It would have looked like quite the scene if you have 50 kids and a good number of those involved in a physical altercation. The initial fight would have seemed like a huge brawl."
Toronto police said five of the teens involved have each been charged with four counts of aggravated assault and four counts of assault with a weapon.
They cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The five boys charged are a 15-year-old, three 16-year-olds and a 17-year-old.
Police said the three victims were walking when they were approached by a group of about 30 teens.
One of the accused punched one of the victims in the face. The two other victims began to run, then the accused teens chased after them and assaulted them.
Police said they are looking for more suspects in connection with the brawl.
