Police in Brampton, Ont., have arrested a male teenager in connection with a stabbing incident inside a local high school.
Chinguacousy Secondary School was locked down for much of Tuesday morning after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed four times.
The victim, who police say is not a student at the school, was taken to hospital and is reported to have non-life-threatening, but serious, injuries.
Const. Wayne Patterson, spokesman for the Peel regional force, said officers went to the high school to clear it of any suspects, "if there are any suspects there."
"We also have several officers there who are investigating, speaking to witnesses trying to determine exactly what happened," he said.
Students and staff were kept inside the school as police went room to room searching for possible suspects and possible witnesses.
"We've got several witnesses that are giving statements and I believe the investigators are getting some good leads," said Patterson.
Police have also reportedly obtained video evidence.
The lockdown was lifted shortly after noon and the school has returned to its regular schedule.
