GO Transit service was disrupted for several hours Friday after a pedestrian walking on the Lakeshore East tracks was struck and killed by a train.
The man was hit on the tracks near Brimley Road and Eglinton Avenue East in Scarborough around 10 a.m.
"No one should be walking on tracks anywhere. People must realize that being on railroad tracks is no different than walking in the middle of the highway," said GO Transit spokesman Ed Shea.
By early afternoon, the tracks had been cleared. Service on the Lakeshore East line is expected to resume in time for the afternoon rush hour. Passengers were being transported by shuttle buses.
Toronto police are investigating the death. The victim's identity was not immediately released.
