Voters in the west-end Toronto riding of Parkdale-High Park will head to the polls in September for a provincial byelection.
Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty called the byelection on Wednesday to replace former education minister Gerard Kennedy.
Kennedy, who won the riding in 2003 with nearly 58 per cent of the vote, stepped down in May to join the race to become leader of the federal Liberal party.
The byelection is set for Sept. 14 to replace Gerard Kennedy, a former provincial education minister who stepped down to run for the federal Liberal leadership.

Sylvia Watson, now a city councillor, is running for the Liberals to try to hold the seat.
The NDP candidate is Cheri DiNovo, a United Church minister who performed North America's first legal same-sex marriage in 2001.
The NDP is hoping the party can take the riding as it did in January's federal election.
Also running is Progressive Conservative candidate David Hutcheon, a former local councillor and a former vice-chairman of Ontario's Environmental Review Tribunal.
The vote is set for Sept. 14.
