Winter storm hampers air travel to U.S.

(Frank Franklin II/Associated Press) Airline passengers trying to get to some U.S. destinations were left stranded Wednesday as a winter storm caused flight cancellations at Canadian airports.
At Pearson International Airport in Toronto, there were dozens of flight cancellations on routes to and from New York City; Washington, D.C.; Philadelphia and Chicago, among other U.S. cities.
As of 10:32 a.m. ET, Pearson's live flight information website listed 132 cancelled flights out of 1,033 daily flights, with the bulk of the cancelled flights to or from U.S. cities.
There were also numerous cancelled flights in and out of Montreal's Trudeau airport.
Washington, D.C., received about 25 centimetres of snow in the latest winter blast to hit the region. Over the weekend, about a metre of snow fell on the area.
New York City, which escaped the last weekend's snowfall, was expected to get up to 40 centimetres of snow Wednesday.
