Last Updated: Sunday, June 22, 2008 | 9:11 PM ET

Environment Canada issued a tornado warning for southern Ontario early Sunday evening.

The warning affects Woodstock, Tillsonburg, Oxford County, Stratford, Mitchell, southern Perth County, London, Parkhill and Eastern Middlesex County.

The agency said that the Ontario Provincial Police relayed a message of a twister touching down at 7:50 p.m. ET near Bryanston, about 10 kilometres northeast of London, and moving northeast toward St. Mary's.

There were reports of damage to trees and houses in the London area, but no injuries.

One witness at the London airport described the storm as "other-worldly."

The exact track and speed of the tornado is not known at this time.

Environment Canada advised those in the area to monitor weather conditions and take immediate safety precautions.
