Canadians should get used to living in one of the world's best economies said federal Finance Minister John Manley on Monday night.
Manley made the comments during a speech at a Liberal fundraiser in Halifax. It was a preview of an economic update he's set to deliver on Wednesday.
"This presentation will show Canada to be leading the developed world, ahead of the United States. And everyone else in economic growth," said Manley.
Along with Canada's strong humanitarian reputation and standing as one of the best places in the world to live, the finance minister said the economy is healthy.
"Together these values and these strengths are making us a true northern tiger," said Manley.
He predicted the economy would grow by 3.4 per cent this year and next.
But he did issue a note of caution to federal departments, warning they will be asked to cut spending.
