Saskatoon artist, 15, wins national poster contest

This colourful poster, created by Saskatoon's Allison Forseille, will be this year's official Canada Day art. (courtesy Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools)A student from Bethlehem Catholic High School in Saskatoon will have her original artwork featured as the official Canada Day 2009 poster.
Allison Forseille's artwork, chosen from among 26,300 entries from across the country, is a colourful depiction of many Canadian icons, based on the contest theme "With Glowing Hearts." Forseille, 15, also referred to the upcoming winter Olympics in her poster.
"The spectators [in the poster] are not only welcoming the world and the Olympic athletes, they're cheering for the beauty of our country," Forseille said during a news conference held at her school on Friday. "My poster also illustrates Canada's cultural diversity by having the fans carry flags of other countries."
As the national winner, Forseille will receive a trip to the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. She will also travel to Ottawa for Canada Day celebrations.
Her artwork also becomes the official image for the 2009 Canada Day poster, which will be distributed across the country.
