A small dog, who was taken for a ride when a thief stole the SUV he was in, has been reunited with his Saskatoon owner.
The owner of the stolen 1991 Chevrolet Tracker had received a call from people who believed they had the missing dog after reading about the case in the newspaper, Saskatoon police said Tuesday.
On Monday, at about 1:20 p.m. CT, the woman went into a business on the east side of the city, leaving the vehicle running with her dog in a carrier on the passenger side.
Someone got into the vehicle and drove off with the dog, described by the Saskatoon StarPhoenix as a toy Pomeranian-bichon frise cross.
Some time after the dog was returned, the vehicle was located. Police said it was found Tuesday morning on 8th Street East, about two kilometres west of where it was stolen.
The thief remains at large.
