The Quebec Liberals and the Parti Québécois launched their French-language television ads Thursday, and they reveal radically different strategies for the warring parties.
The Liberal ad campaign stars Leader Jean Charest vaunting his party's accomplishments in health, education and the environment during its four years in office, with appearances from his most prominent cabinet ministers.
The Liberal ads make no mention of the PQ, which took a more negative approach in its television blitz.
The PQ ads attack the Liberal government record with Leader André Boisclair playing a minor supporting role. He only appears for a few seconds at the end of each 30-second ad. In a longer version, Boisclair is flanked by other PQ candidates.
PQ officials said they think Quebecers will like the negative ad campaign because voters are fed up with the Liberals.
The ads go to air on Thursday.
