Last Updated: Thursday, July 29, 2010 | 10:13 AM AT

Just a few years after its cricket association was formed, P.E.I. is hoping to send its first players to a national competition, and is looking to form a woman's team.

The association formed in 2005 and its first official pitch was opened last August in Stratford. Team P.E.I. has been competing against other provinces, more people are joining the club, and the team hopes to send players to the nationals next year.

The association is also hoping to put together a women's team.

Stephanie vanKampen reports on the growth of cricket on the Island.
