National park under boil water order

Last Updated: Wednesday, July 28, 2010 | 8:45 AM AT

Visitors to Brackley Beach in P.E.I. National Park are being told to boil the drinking water.

Parks Canada told CBC News Tuesday a pump on its main water well has broken, and it has switched to another well, but there are high levels of coliform bacteria in that water.

Parks officials have put the area under a boil water order until at least Wednesday.

The pump has been replaced, but more testing has to be done before the water is declared safe to drink.
