P.E.I. potato farmers are working through cold temperatures following a long struggle with wet weather and mud through the harvest.
Greg Donald, general manager of the P.E.I. Potato Board, said frost means farmers have to wait longer to get out on the field.
"We've had frost two or three mornings," said Donald.
"In some areas of the Island, they can get going fairly early. Others it's 10:30, in some cases it's been after lunch before they get on the land because of cold temperatures, because of the frost. And in some cases, the ground has been frozen down to two inches [5.08 cm], so it's still been a challenge."
Donald said the crop is about 85 per cent harvested. The work is normally completed by Halloween.
