Harper slammed at meeting of Atlantic leaders

The premiers of Newfoundland and Labrador and Nova Scotia have told a meeting of eastern premiers and New England governors that Prime Minister Stephen Harper shouldn't be trusted.

The comments were made Monday in Brudenell, P.E.I., during informal meetings on the first day of the annual gathering of the leaders.

Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Danny Williams accused Harper of buying support in New Brunswick Monday when he showed up in Fredericton to sign a multi-million-dollar highway deal.

Nova Scotia Premier Rodney MacDonald reminded his colleagues Harper broke signed agreements on offshore revenues with his province and Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Atlantic accords are expected to be part of the formal meeting of premiers and governors which is scheduled for Tuesday.
