Interim Green party Leader Sharon Labchuk ran for respect and she won that, but not a seat in Rustico-Emerald.
Labchuk ran third in the Central P.E.I. district and scored over six per cent of the popular vote, which by provincial terms is very good for the third-place finisher.
Liberal Carolyn Bertram took the district with 58 per cent of the vote.
Tory David Blacquiere placed second, with 36 per cent of the vote.
"I'm happy — very happy," Labchuck told CBC News after the results came in. "Our objective was to introduce Islanders to us and we succeeded at that."
As for the Liberal surge, Labchuck said: "We don't really see that there's a lot of difference between the [Liberals] and Conservatives."
The longtime environmental activist ran on a platform that included ridding P.E.I. of agriculture pesticides.
She had previously run federally for the Green Party of Canada, but this was her first try at provincial politics.
