Liberal Ron McKinley in Cornwall-Meadowbank was the first candidate elected Monday night in P.E.I.'s general election.
McKinley captured over 60 per cent of the votes and was projected elected by CBC News shortly before 8 p.m. AT.
Progressive Conservative Margaret Duffy received about 32 per cent of the votes, followed by New Democrat Kirk Brown and Green candidate Paul Ness, who each took over two per cent.
This district is a mix of urban, suburban and rural, with the amalgamated community of Cornwall (pop. 4,412) being the major centre.
