Four charged after kidnapping attempt

Four people face several charges after an attemped kidnapping in the Craig Henry Drive area over the weekend, police said.

Police said the 30-year-old victim was outside his home when he was assaulted Saturday at about 12:30 p.m. ET, by assailants armed with a baseball bat and pellet gun.

The victim recieved serious injuries, but managed to call for help and escape the alleged kidnapping.

Officers later arrested four suspects and recovered several weapons. Police said the victim and the accused know each other.

Lawrence O'Brien, 20, of Renfew, Shayne Newman, 28, of Bancroft, Peter Alex MacDonald, 23, of Eganville and Jordyn Schruder, 19, of Ottawa are scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.

All four accused were charged with attempted kidnapping, robbery with a weapon, uttering death threats, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery and conspiracy to commit kidnapping.
