NOVA SCOTIA VOTES

NDP gains in Annapolis, PCs lose 2 cabinet ministers

Last Updated: Tuesday, June 9, 2009 | 10:01 PM ET

The orange tide that swept across Nova Scotia on Tuesday night brought two more New Democratic MLAs to the Annapolis Valley region.

The New Democrats won three of six Annapolis seats while the Liberals held on to two. The Progressive Conservatives were left with one.

The NDP gains came at the expense of two PC cabinet ministers.

Jim Morton was elected in the Kings North district, defeating former agriculture minister Mark Parent by a little more than five per cent.

Meanwhile, Ramona Jennex won Kings South for the NDP over former environment minister David Morse, who was defeated by 13 per cent of the popular vote.
