District profile: This rural district runs along the Bay of Fundy near Five Islands and Glenholme and then veers north and east to border the Northumberland Strait. It includes Tatamagouche, Debert and Earltown.
Fishing, farming and forestry are the economic mainstays. Many people commute to Truro to work in factories and offices.
The Anna Swan Museum and the Balmoral Grist Mill – as well as golf courses and the tides of the Bay of Fundy – attract tourists during the summer.
