RCMP investigate 2 N.S. highway fatalities

RCMP are investigating two fatal single-occupant vehicle collisions that occurred on N.S. highways Saturday.

A Nova Scotia man is dead after losing control of his SUV on the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton Saturday night.

Douglas Ian MacDonald, 41, was driving southbound when his vehicle left the road near Cap Le Moine.

Police said the SUV wound up in a field. MacDonald was pronounced dead at the scene.

Woman killed near Bridgetown

Meanwhile, police continue to look into the death of a woman who was killed Saturday afternoon when her car collided head-on with a tractor-trailer on Highway 101, near Bridgetown.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The transport driver suffered minor injuries.
