A car that sped away from an officer appears to have crashed into a tree on Old Sambro Road Friday and forced a second vehicle off the road, police said.
The two drivers were hurt.
The crash happened just after 1 p.m. in front of the Harrietsfield-Sambro fire station.
Halifax Regional Police said it all started when an officer tried to pull over a red Honda Civic. The driver sped away, police said, and the officer didn't give chase.
Not long after, a red Civic smashed into a tree, forcing an approaching Ford truck off the road.
Police said the man driving the car was seriously hurt, while the woman driving the truck suffered minor injuries.
Two fire trucks, several police vehicles and an ambulance were at the site Friday afternoon. The road was blocked off in both directions.
