The president of Newfoundland and Labrador's Liberal party has won a nomination to represent Torngat Mountains.
Danny Dumaresque will represent the Liberals in the northern Labrador district of Torngat Mountains.

Danny Dumaresque won the Liberal nomination in the northern Labrador district, defeating challenger Max Blake.
Torngat Mountains became vacant last Wednesday, after Liberal Wally Andersen's resignation took effect.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary charged Andersen this summer with fraud and other charges in an investigation sparked by Auditor General John Noseworthy's 2006 reports on spending at the house of assembly.
Dumaresque represented the southern Labrador district of Eagle River — now known as Cartwright-L'Anse au Clair — for two terms, between 1989 and 1996.
Under provincial Liberal party rules, Dumaresque does not have to step down as party president while he seeks election.
Dumaresque has said he will resign the presidency if he is elected, so that he can focus full-time on being an MHA.
Voters in Newfoundland and Labrador head to the polls on Oct. 9, the first under fixed-date legislation.
Premier Danny Williams is expected to launch the official campaign for the election within a week.
