An 18-year-old man was charged Monday with dangerous driving and impersonating a police officer in Deer Lake, N.L.
Police haven't released the man's name. He was arrested after police received a report of an erratic driver in the western Newfoundland community, located about 50 kilometres northeast of Corner Brook.
Police say a caller explained that a car passed her at a high speed, crossing a solid line, with emergency lights flashing.
The woman said the driver nearly forced her to lose control of her car.
Police say the arrested man owned a retired police Ford Crown Victoria equipped with strobe lights in the headlights and taillights.
The RCMP found a can of pepper spray and a frequency scanner in the car.
The man driving the car is scheduled to appear in court in Corner Brook on Jan. 12.
