The province's largest health authority said Wednesday it has seen such a large turnout at a flu assessment clinic in St. John's that it's being moved to a larger location.
Eastern Health opened the clinic at Major's Path, in the east end of the city, last Friday, to take the pressure off family doctors and emergency department physicians, who are seeing more people with flu-like symptoms.
Sixty-six patients were seen the first day of the clinic, but by Tuesday, that had grown to 163 visits.
The health authority is moving the clinic to a building on Ropewalk Lane, in the centre of the city, starting Thursday, so more people can be assessed without having to go to a hospital or medical clinic.
People suspecting they have the flu are urged to go to the assessment clinic first, however. Eastern Health said anyone experiencing breathing difficulties should still go to a local emergency department.
