Central N.L. byelection a go for late November

The three main political parties in Newfoundland and Labrador have picked candidates for a byelection to replace a cabinet minister who stepped down earlier this fall.

Sandy Collins won the Progressive Conservative nomination for the district of Terra Nova on Tuesday night. The other candidates are Robin Brentall, for the New Democratic Party, and John Baird, for the Liberals.

Former health minister Paul Oram resigned the seat in October, citing medical reasons and frustration with media scrutiny.

Premier Danny Williams announced Wednesday that the byelection will be held on Nov. 26.
