Police are investigating an unusual robbery outside St. John's, where a backhoe appears to have been used to steal a cash machine.
A backhoe was left submerged in water following the theft of an ATM at a gas station.

An automated teller machine was stolen before 5 a.m. AT on Monday at an Irving gas station on the Trans-Canada Highway, near Paddy's Pond.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is investigating the robbery.
Part of the building had a large hole gouged in it.
A backhoe was found later Monday morning in the Manuels River.
