Fredericton standoff ends peacefully

Last Updated: Tuesday, November 3, 2009 | 7:15 AM AT

A Fredericton-area standoff ended peacefully on Tuesday morning, according to the RCMP.

The individual at the centre of the standoff surrendered to police before 7 a.m. He has been taken to a local hospital for a health assessment.

RCMP said they do not believe charges will be laid.

The RCMP had been called to the Apple Blossom Trailer Park at 2 a.m. by a man who was barricaded inside one of the trailers.

Sgt. Claude Tremblay said on Tuesday morning that RCMP had brought in a police negotiator to talk to the man in the trailer.

Tremblay said the area had been cordoned off as a precaution.

"We don't feel that anyone's in danger in any way or form around the trailer park," he said during the standoff.

"Everything's OK, it's just the RCMP is taking precautions with the gentleman in question."
