2 cabbies robbed in Moncton

Last Updated: Thursday, November 5, 2009 | 9:11 PM AT

Two cab drivers in Moncton have been robbed in the past two days, but police don't believe the incidents are related.

One of the drivers was robbed early Saturday morning after he picked up a passenger downtown, police said. The passenger had a weapon.

On Friday morning, a female driver was robbed and assaulted after picking up a fare about 6 a.m. on University Avenue, in the east end of the city. The driver was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect in that case is described as a white man in his 20s who may have tattoos on his hands.

Anyone with information is asked to call the RCMP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
