The Toronto Argonauts will play one regular season game in Moncton, N.B., next season against a yet-to-be-named opponent, The Canadian Press reported on Thursday, citing sources.
The CFL is to make an announcement at a press conference Thursday in Moncton.
The game would be held at the University of Moncton's new track stadium. The league will reveal who the Boatmen will play when it releases its 2010 schedule.
It would be the first time the CFL has played in Moncton. The Argos and Hamilton Tiger-Cats played an exhibition game in Halifax in 2005.
That game, at St. Mary's University's Huskies Stadium, was a sold out affair that ended in a 16-16 tie.
Current CFL commissioner Mark Cohon and his predecessor Tom Wright have both expressed interest in expansion to the East Coast, but the lack of a suitable stadium has proved to be the toughest obstacle to overcome.
The league granted Ottawa a conditional expansion franchise in 2008, and in March 2009 granted the group headed up by Ottawa 67s owner Jeff Hunt an extension to secure a deal with the city regarding a new stadium.
