Beginning this fall, Sunday hunting will be permitted in New Brunswick during three weeks of the deer hunting season.
Natural Resource Minister Donald Arseneault announced on Friday the province's Fish and Wildlife Act will be amended to allow the weekend hunt between Oct. 28 and Nov. 17.
"I am pleased to introduce this amendment that will better reflect the current attitudes towards activities on Sunday and to lessen the restriction on hunters," Arseneault said in the legislature. "At the same time, we are balancing the needs of the non-hunting public by limiting the number of weekends."
Bear, small game, grouse and migratory birds can also be hunted during the same period.
The change shouldn't affect wildlife management, conservation or sustainability in the province, said the minister.
New Brunswick will be the 10th jurisdiction in Canada to allow Sunday hunting.
