Bathurst PC candidate requests recount

The Progressive Conservative candidate in the northern riding of Bathurst has decided to ask for a recount after losing the seat by just 75 votes.

Nancy McKay, who lost to Liberal incumbent Brian Kenny, said Wednesday that she is filling out the paperwork.

According to provincial election rules, a candidate who has lost by more than 25 votes can apply to a judge of the Court of Queen's Bench for a recount.

McKay has four days from this coming Friday, when Elections New Brunswick releases its offical tabulations, to apply to the Court of Queen's Bench.

If the judge feels a recount is warranted, the recount will be held within four days of that,

This was the third election in which McKay ran unsuccessfully against Kenny.
