Election Promise Calculator
What will election promises cost?
The Election Promise Calculator is designed to be a rough tool to illustrate the impact of campaign promises made during the election and the impact they will have on the existing budgetary pressures.
The slider is using the New Brunswick government's estimate that the 2010-11 budget will have a $749 million deficit. This fiscal year has already started but the deficit figure will be impacted by any immediate decisions taken after the Sept. 27 election. It also offers the most accurate figures available for departmental spending and tax revenues.
