Last Updated: Thursday, July 29, 2010 | 4:56 PM ET

A Montreal man has been charged with attempted murder and armed robbery.

Police allege the 53-year-old man robbed a business on Côte-St-Luc Road Wednesday afternoon.

The suspect was arrested shortly after the robbery.

Hours later, police were called to the man's apartment on Bessborough Avenue in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce.

There, investigators found the man's roommate in a pool of blood. Police said the 45-year-old man had been stabbed multiple times.

The roommate underwent several surgeries, and he is now in stable condition in hospital.

The suspect will appear in court on Friday for a bail hearing.
