The owners of Montreal's Le Medley say the hall is no longer commercially feasible. (CBC)A well-known Montreal show hall will shut down at the end of the year.
The owners of Le Medley on Saint-Denis Street say the hall is no longer commercially viable, given the costs of maintaining the big building.
In a statement, the owners said they will take steps to hope relocate scheduled events to other theatres. Talks are underway with a potential buyer who is interested in converting the site into a residential development, they said.
The closure will put 10 full-time and 30 part-time workers out of a job.
The building first opened as the Old Munich bar in 1969.
A farewell evening is being planned for the last week of December.
