Sixteen members of Premier Gary Doer's former NDP cabinet in Manitoba were re-elected Tuesday, but Trade Minister Scott Smith was defeated in his riding of Brandon West.
Smith was ousted by PC rival Rick Borotsik by only 58 votes.
Here is the outgoing NDP cabinet from the previous legislative session. Unless otherwise noted, three candidates — one each from the New Democratic, PC and Liberal parties — ran in each of the ridings below.

- Diane McGifford (advanced education and literacy). Riding: Lord Roberts. Four candidates ran in this riding, from NDP, PC, Liberal and Green parties. RE-ELECTED
- Eric Robinson (culture, heritage and tourism). Riding: Rupertsland. RE-ELECTED
- Peter Bjornson (education, citizenship and youth). Riding: Gimli. RE-ELECTED
- Gord Mackintosh (family services and housing). Riding: St. Johns. Four candidates ran in this riding, from NDP, PC, Liberal and Green parties. RE-ELECTED
- Gregory Selinger (finance). Riding: St. Boniface. Five candidates ran in this riding, from NDP, PC, Liberal, Green and Communist parties. RE-ELECTED
- Kerri Irvin-Ross (healthy living). Riding: Fort Garry. Four candidates ran in this riding, from NDP, PC, Liberal and Green parties. Irvin-Ross's campaign was strongly challenged by Liberal hopeful Dr. Craig Hildahl. RE-ELECTED
- Steve Ashton (intergovernmental affairs). Riding: Thompson. RE-ELECTED
- Dave Chomiak (justice and attorney general). Riding: Kildonan. Four candidates ran in this riding, from NDP, PC, Liberal and Green parties. RE-ELECTED
- Nancy Allan (labour and immigration). Riding: St. Vital. Four candidates ran in this riding, from NDP, PC, Liberal and Green parties. RE-ELECTED
- Jim Rondeau (science, technology, energy and mines). Riding: Assiniboia. RE-ELECTED
- Chistine Melnick (water stewardship). Riding: Riel. Melnick's campaign was strongly challenged by PC candidate Trudy Turner. RE-ELECTED
- Theresa Oswald (health). Riding: Seine River. Oswald's bid for re-election was pressured by a strong PC campaign by Steven Andjelic. RE-ELECTED
- Ron Lemieux (infrastructure and transportation). Riding: La Verendrye. Four candidates ran in this riding, from NDP, PC and Liberal parties and one Independent candidate. Lemieux's campaign was under strong pressure from PC candidate Bob Stefaniuk, mayor of the rural municipality of Ritchot. RE-ELECTED
- Stan Struthers (conservation). Riding: Dauphin-Roblin. RE-ELECTED
- Rosann Wowchuk (agriculture, food and rural initiatives). Riding: Swan River. RE-ELECTED
- Scott Smith (competitiveness, training and trade). Riding: Brandon West. Four candidates ran in this riding, from NDP, PC, Liberal and Communist parties. Smith was strongly challenged by former mayor and federal Conservative MP Rick Borotsik. DEFEATED
