Winnipeggers line up for cheap gas

Last Updated: Friday, November 6, 2009 | 9:01 AM CT

The police were required to control traffic in a few Winnipeg parking lots Friday morning after Canadian Tire dropped the price of gas at its stations by nearly 15 cents per litre.

Hundreds of vehicles snaked through the lots at the store's four locations — St. James Street, Vermillion Road, Regent Avenue West, and Portage Avenue — where gas was selling for 85 cents per litre.

The posted price at other stations in the city was still 99.9 cents per litre.

The sale at the gas bars is part of a promotion by the store and Mark's Work Wearhouse. It started at 6:30 a.m. and was set to last until 9:30 a.m.
