Police have released sketches of two men sought in connection with a sexual assault in Winnipeg on Monday.

The woman was waiting for a cab in the 100 block of Mayfair Place in the Fort Rouge neighbourhood at around 5 a.m. when she was approached by two men in a vehicle who offered her a ride home, police said.

She accepted and was driven to an unknown area where she was physically and sexually assaulted. The woman was then dropped off in the 1600 block of Corydon Avenue, where she called police.

She was treated for non-life-threatening injuries in hospital. Police did not release the age of the victim.

He was wearing a white sweater, blue jeans and white shoes.

The second attacker is also described as a clean-shaven male, East Indian in appearance, between 20 and 25 years old. He has short dark hair, is about 5-foot-6 with a slim build and was wearing blue jeans and a long-sleeved blue shirt over a white shirt.

The men were driving a newer-model, two-door, silver car with a black leather interior, similar in appearance to a Mercedes Benz, police said.

The police service's sex crimes unit is investigating.

Anyone with information regarding the incident or the suspects is asked to contact investigators at 986-6245 or Crime Stoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
