RCMP in Manitoba said more than $700,000 worth of marijuana plants were seized at this grow-op in Elma on Friday. (RCMP)The raid of a marijuana grow-op in September led Manitoba RCMP officers to the door of a similar operation exactly one month later, police said Monday.
Lac du Bonnet RCMP said more than 700 marijuana plants, they valued to be worth around $700,000, were seized after a raid last Friday at the site of a former business in Elma, Man.
Staff Sgt. Glen Reitlo said a prior grow-op investigation at a property in the rural municipality of Lac du Bonnet on Sept. 30 led police to raid the Elma location. Reitlo didn't elaborate on what police discovered that led them to make the most recent bust.
RCMP said two men were arrested in connection with the Oct. 30 seizure.
Man Minh Nguyen, 38, of Winnipeg and Jebin Deng, 26, of Vancouver, are being held in custody on charges of drug possession, cultivation of marijuana and theft of utility services, police said.
Both men were due to appear in court on Monday, Reitlo said.
RCMP said no charges have been laid in connection with the September raid.
Elma is located about 90 kilometres east of Winnipeg.
