Murder suspect arrested in Saskatchewan

Michael Bryan Flanigan, 40, was arrested by RCMP near Loon Lake, Sask., on Thursday and was charged with second-degree murder in the death of Sara Sanders.

Sanders was found dead in her downtown Edmonton apartment on Oct. 15.

On Wednesday, Edmonton police announced they had issued an arrest warrant for Flanigan.

A Loon Lake resident who had seen media coverage of the announcement called RCMP after Flanigan was seen in the community, which is about 135 kilometres northeast of Lloydminster.

Edmonton homicide detectives are now in Saskatchewan interviewing Flanigan. He is expected to be moved to Edmonton by next week.

Police are trying to determine Flanigan's movements in the days before and after Sanders was found dead. They believed he had also been in B.C. and Alberta in the past month.
